About Khatushyam Ji Temple –

Among the most honoured and increasingly popular sacred destinations in the north India, particularly among devotees of Lord Krishna, is Khatu Shyam ji Temple. Khatu Shyamji is a unique manifestation of Lord Krishna, is enriched in the temple. He is believed to be the son of Maurvi and Ghatotkacha, the son of Bhim,a in the Mahabharata. Due to his ultimate sacrifice during the Mahabharata war, he is worshipped as “Sheesh Ka Dani” and is also referred to as Barbareek. According to myth, before the battle began, he had given Lord Krishna his head and sworn to observe the whole war from atop a high place. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple contains the idol of Khatushyamji in the form of a special head, which is said to be his figure as presented in the legend.
