The town is particularly famous for its beautiful palaces, a sturdy fort and a stunning collection of intricately built stepwells, or baoris, testament to both ancient water conservation techniques.

Sitting dominantly on a high hill over the town, the imposing Taragarh Fort is the crowning glory of Bundi. Even though parts of it lie in romantic decay, it's a sheer size, robust defences, and historical significance. An outstanding piece of Rajput architecture, the Bundi Palace lies adjacent to the fort and is celebrated for its stunning murals and frescoes.

Is a day trip from Ajmer to Bundi possible?
